Bacchus, the Roman god of Wine, discovered the
culture of the vine and the method of extracting its precious nectar
for our gratification, and we are grateful for the opportunity to
continue that tradition with skill and passion.
Our family owned vineyard, located in the cool climate
wine making region of Sunbury, is set among the hills overlooking the
picturesque Bacchus Marsh valley. Our grapes are handpicked from
hand-pruned vines, grown on high level river terraces and gully
alluvium within a belt of ancient Ordovician soil - they make wines
of great character and complexity.
Our extensive range of outstanding 2005 Vintage Red
& White wines include ... Cabernet Sauvignon - Late Harvest,
Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz - Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Sangiovese,
Pinot Noir Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Chenin
Blanc Demi-sec and Lawson's Patch Rose.
For your Special Occasions, Le Repaire de
Bacchus with its picturesque scenery, provides a spectacular
setting for Romantic Weddings, Anniversaries, Birthdays or other
celebrations for up
to 150 guests (just 45 minute drive
from Melbourne).
The Sunbury Wine Region
Just beyond Melbourne Airport are the closest vineyards
to Melbourne, in the Sunbury Wine Region. The Region takes in the areas
of Keilor, Bulla, Clarkefield, Sunbury, Diggers Rest, Rockbank, Parwan,
Melton and of course Bacchus Marsh.
Bacchus Hill Winery is proud to be part of the Sunbury
Wine Region that now has 20 wineries and a long history stretching back
to the foundation of Victoria. The region had more than eight
flourishing vineyards by the late 1800s.
The Sunbury Wine Region (including Bacchus Marsh) is
close enough to Melbourne to take an easy drive to enjoy the
picturesque scenery, a chat with the winemakers and learn how the wine
is formed from the soil and crafted in the cellar.

(except for Christmas Day, New Years Day and Good Friday).
